Engagement Photos: My Brother and his Fiancee

I took my first stab at formal portraits when my brother and his fiance asked me to take some photos following their engagement.

On the Road: Portraits of my Dad

My dad and I recently took a road trip through Massachusetts and Rhode Island. These are some of the photos I took of him along the way.

Roger Williams Park Zoo

On a road trip this weekend with my dad we stopped a the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI. Although photography was not my ultimate aim for our visit, I snapped some casual pictures of the animals. It's a great zoo and is half price in January and February. It's a great time to go since there are no crowds.

In Memory of our nephew Caellan

Our five year old nephew passed away this year on New Year's Day. Luckily, due to my habit of bringing my camera to lots of family get-togethers, we have many photographs to remember his beautiful spirit.

This is Christmas day with my husband in his Christmas sweater. You never would have known that one week later Caellan would no longer be with us. We are thankful we had such a nice Christmas to share with him. He was so excited to go on this walk to Ashuelot Park.

Caellan loved cars. One of the first questions he would ask anyone was what kind of car they have. He wanted to be a garbage man when he grew up so he could drive around on the big truck all day. Here he's pretending to drive our Mazda SUV.

On Thanksgiving we took Caellan and his brother for a walk at Goose Pond in Keene, NH.

On a summer day in 2014 the whole family went to play outside.

This little guy was so full of life. He will be sorely missed.

We love you Caellan!

Outdoors in November

I didn't take a whole lot of pictures this fall but managed to get out for a few short photo shoots. These first two photographs were taken in Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, MA.

On a cold November day we went for a walk in Maudslay State Park. I managed to get Mike to stop and take one photo with me on the condition that I wouldn't take any more pictures of him for the rest of the walk.

This photo was shot on the trail near the Maudslay homestead. Lucky for me the sun was setting over the Merrimac River.

On another quick walk to the Waterfront Park in Newburyport, I stopped to take a photo of the cormorants which adorn the docks. Across the bay are the buildings in Salisbury, MA.

Just as we left my mother's house after our Thanksgiving visit we saw a band of wild turkeys crossing a neighbor's yard. Such a pleasant sight to see on Thanksgiving weekend. This was taken in Stoddard, NH.

I continued my photographs of Black and White wet stones with this one at Goose Pond in Keene, NH on Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Day with our Nephews

We spent Thanksgiving Day with our nephews. We had a great time taking them on a short hike at Goose Pond, Keene, NH and played some football in the yard.

Korbin and his brother took a break from throwing rocks in the pond to take a picture for their mom.

Yankee Homecoming 2015 - Newburyport

Each year Newburyport, MA has a week long celebration of the town's history and culture. I attended the opening ceremony at the Bartlett Mall on Old Fashioned Day and took some pictures of the people enjoying the day.

Children played carnival games and enjoyed the bouncy castle and this blow-up obstacle course.

Children's shoes of all colors outside the bouncy castle.

Kids loved the train going around the Frog Pond.

The pony rides were also popular.

Meanwhile speeches took place as part of the opening ceremony. This little boy looked longingly at the carnival games from his seat on the stage.

Adults also socialized with their friends.

Once they had exhausted the games at the event, children made their own fun like these boys rolling down the hill.

By the end of the day the children seemed pretty tuckered out!

Cat Sisters

Last week I did not get much chance to get out of the house and take photos so I decided to take photos of something that is inside my house -- my cats!

These are the two cat sisters. The closer one with longer hair is Ada and the further one away is Copper. I love this photo because they are looking in the same direction and have the same expression.

In a way I was adding to my family portrait collection from the last couple weeks with this one. It took this photo of my cat Ada to go along with my other family portraits. Unfortunately, I haven't got a good picture of  Copper, yet. I found Ada to be more patient and photogenic.

I liked the sense of motion in the one but wish Ada's face was clearer. I was trying to catch the kitties' playful side.

Ada is a wild lady. Although she's just yawning in this photo she does look a bit frightening.

The cats paused for a moment while wrestling which allowed me to get this shot without any blur.

The angles of the legs here are what I like the most about the composition. The kitties often clean each other which is always a good time to capture a sweet moment of them.

Family Portraits

Last weekend I had the fortune to visit my family up in New Hampshire. I was lucky they were willing to let me take their photographs too!
